How do I claim a listing and earn the Verified badge?

Prove you control your company's domain by one of four methods, then you can edit the listing and carry the Verified badge.

Updated

Two routes to the claim form

Open the listing and choose "Claim". You can also go straight to /claim/<listing>. Either way, you land on the same step: showing that you control the company's domain.

Four ways to prove domain control

Pick one of these methods, side by side, whichever suits your setup:

  • Email: we send a secret link to an address at the company's domain.
  • DNS TXT record: add a record on the root domain.
  • Meta tag: place a tag on your homepage.
  • Verification file: upload a small file to your website.

Verification codes expire after 14 days. If yours has expired, start the claim again.

What changes once you are verified

On this attribute, the result is clear-cut:

  • If the listing was unclaimed, you become its owner.
  • You can edit the listing.
  • You get the Verified badge.

Verified means one thing only: you control the domain. The badge is never sold. It is separate from paid placement and separate from votes, so neither one can raise or replace it, and it does not count towards them either.
