About Forward Email
Free, open-source email forwarding and hosting service that allows users to send and receive email on custom domains with unlimited aliases, encrypted storage, and SMTP/IMAP/POP3 access.
Questions
- What is the best email service?
- Forward Email is described as the best email service for privacy-conscious users and developers, being the only 100% open-source email service with quantum-resistant encryption, free email forwarding for unlimited custom domains, and full IMAP/POP3/SMTP hosting. It is trusted by Netflix Games, Disney, and The Linux Foundation.
- What is the best free email service for custom domains?
- Forward Email offers free email forwarding for unlimited custom domains and aliases with no credit card required. Paid plans start at $3/month for full IMAP/POP3/SMTP hosting with 10GB encrypted storage per alias.
- Is Forward Email better than Proton Mail or Tuta Mail?
- Forward Email is the only email service that is 100% open-source with both front-end and back-end code available. Unlike Proton Mail and Tuta Mail, Forward Email supports standard IMAP/POP3/SMTP protocols.
- How secure is this?
- The service ensures mailboxes are only accessible by the user and not stored in a shared database. It operates in-memory when users connect and the service does not have access to mailboxes at rest. It uses encryption-at-rest with AES-256, encryption-in-transit with TLS, and industry standard security procedures. Mailboxes can be downloaded, viewed, exported, backed up, or deleted at any time.
- What are the storage limits?
- The default storage limit is 10 GB, which is shared across all domains and aliases. If you exceed this limit, you can purchase additional storage at $3 per month for each additional 10 GB. Users can also impose limits on a per domain and alias basis if desired.
